Yay for Saturday

It's Saturday! Yay! Time to attend my best friend daughter's 6th birthday party, help Jim take the photo's and look after little Ollie. Cake, face painting, balloon modeling....not sure I'll have time to take the photo's ;o)

14/52 - Carrying on creating

This week I haven't really been that creative. I came down with another cold and have also been busy sorting other things out. Anyway, I picked up a painting I started ages ago to see if I could revive it. Can't say I'm convinced but I wanted to feel a brush on paper again.

My little head is whizzing around with all the things that need doing......so much so that I want to run and hide! Go somewhere nice, relax and when I come back it's all done. If only life was like that!!!

13/52 - Through it all we have Love

This weeks photo is a Hipstamatic shot of Jim's painting. He left it ready for me to see when I came home from a hard day at work. Wonderful I say.

I used the flash to give it a different effect and I think it came out really funky looking.

Which reminds me, I will share some exciting news next week kind of relating to this post.

I hope you are all having a good week. It's been a mixed one for me and I am looking forward to two days with Jim and the kids and spending time with my mum as it's Mothers Day here in the UK on Sunday. I cherish every moment I have with the people I love as life is too precious.

12/52 - Whimsical Art

Once again I am a day late posting my photo for this week but I have a good excuse as I was on a date with my lovely Jim. It's a rare treat these days to get out on a Friday and Saturday night due to the kids, so we grasped a free night and headed off to the cinema to see Limitless which was very good.

Anyway, here's my photo for this week which is the finished sketch of this picture. Not quite sure about it, but I do like the colours.
I'm also a day late for Paint Party Friday hosted by Kirstin and Eva, so I am hoping I can add a late entry which is the picture below.

11/52 - Chocolate Love

I've been so tired this week (in bed by 9.30pm or before) most nights that I am even a day late posting my 52 weeks in pictures.
Although this isn't a photo about my creativity, this was the only one I took in the week, thus it will be my picture (ooh I haven't used the word thus in years!). The chocolate was left on my desk for me as a surprise gift from my lovely friend Lizzie. Wonderful.

I hope next week will be a less tiring one and one where I am a little bit creative.

Still no time to paint so my creative picture this week is of my new best friend....my sketchbook with water brush. At the moment I am using this more than ever...which I am pleased about as I need lots of drawing practice

7/52 - Fairy cake time

My picture for this week was taken on Sunday when Daisy and I made fairy cakes. Creativity in the kitchen.

There is something magical (and messy) about making cakes with a 4 year old, and it brought back memories of me as a child as I LOVED baking. So it was pure joy to be able to do this with Daisy.
They were yummy too and Daisy's one was the one with the most jellies on.

5/52 - A quick sketch

As it's not been much of a creative week, I decided to take a photo of a sketch in my sketch book. I did this a while ago, but I just love the fact that when I did this, I wasn't worrying about the outcome, as it was after all, just a sketch.

I have just finished reading 'The Painter of Shanghai' which is based on a true story of the painter Pan Yuliang and how she transformed her life from being a prostitute to becoming a painter and how she challenged the culture of that era with her nude self portraits.

It was a fascinating read and at the end of the book there was a quote by Henri Matisse which I completely understood. The quote is:

Another word for creativity is courage

I completely agree.

4/52 - More studio pictures

My picture this week is of my desk again.
It's been a funny week, a bit unsettling and the next few months are going to be quite tough. But worth it in the end.

Trying not to feel the strain and wondering if I'm going to find the time to be creative!

3/52 - I love my studio

My photo for this week is a glimpse of my desk. I am a messy artist, and although this looks relatively tidy(ish) I did move a few things out of the way to take the picture.
There's a saying 'happy as a pig in muck' and that is what I feel like when I am in my studio painting and being creative. Time whizzes by even faster than it should. And as I have spent a lot of time in my studio this week, it should only be that this is my picture for this week.

2/52 - Chalk and Cheese

Week 2 of my 52 week project and I'm still following my creative theme.

I'm having problems with part of my Escher painting, so there's a whimsical sketch for some light relief.

A short and sweet post, but it's been a really busy day and I am so looking forward to going to bed anytime soon.

52 weeks, 52 photos

I've decided to take up another photography challenge which I feel more confident in completing. A picture a week for 52 weeks!

Last year I did the 365 photo project, but being ill for over a month kind of put paid to wanting to take a photo every day, and so I didn't finish it. I tried hard to not let it get me down, as I had managed to take a picture every day for ten and a half months before disaster struck! On the positive side I learnt heaps about photography, my camera and my subjects, so all was not lost. Plus the people in group I joined on Flickr were amazing, very inspirational and really friendly.

I also want to encourage myself to be creative every week in addition to taking a picture, so I have decided to give myself a theme of creativity for the entire project. Which means that every picture has to be of something creative, either what I am working on (which I aim to be working on something every week) or what someone else is working on or has worked on.

So without further ado, my week one picture is the mock up of my children's party invitation which I have worked on this week. I do realise that this picture has already been posted, so I have jazzed it up bit in Lightroom. The finished invite has been approved by the client (almost 5 year olds know what they like) and I will share that with you soon.
