A bit stuck

Well I'm a bit stuck. I randomly started this layered watercolour painting of flowers with a bird, and I wasn't sure where I was heading with it. Just really wanted to see the transparent layers of the flowers over each other, so I pretty much let the painting just flow. And now I am not sure what to do.I feel like it needs to 'pop' a bit more, but then again, it's nice to have soft gentle colours. So I'm debating whether to outline it......it certainly needs something!
So any ideas are well and truly welcome.

Sunday Sketches

Here's a little folk style art flowers. Just random doodling and then added some colour using watercolour pencils.
I've had watercolour pencils for years but never really used them until recently...but they are quite fun to use.

Off to another children's party today so not much time to paint.

Kelly in Watercolour

I created this watercolour sketch last year, during Kelly Berkey‘s sketch challenge, but for some reason I didn’t blog about it (or send it to her). I did enjoy creating this, especially as I shy away from faces. I seem to be doing a lot of faces lately, mainly whimsical, but still, faces all the same. There must be a reason for that somewhere!

I’m off to bring my Little Red Riding Hood to life now.

Ooh an update....

Painted a bit more to it, but will leave it for a while until I can work out the next stage.

A few random creative facts about me...

~ I have always been creative, it's at my core and I love it.

~ I have too many art materials

~ I want to experiment with mixed media paintings

~ I admire the work of Chris Forsey (http://www.chrisforsey.com/)

~ I won my first and only art competition at the age of 4 (least that is what my mum says)

~ My favourite colour in my palette is permanent rose

~ I have a sewing machine gathering dust

~ I love buying sketchbooks and am working my way through filling them

~ The first time I attended a life drawing class my tutor made the male model stand legs akimbo infront of me so I could practice - I was completely embarrassed

~ Sitting on the rocks at St Ives painting the sea and beyond was a magical and calming experience

~ I still have my first 'proper' watercolour set which was a Christmas present from my parents when I was 13

~ I have a never-ending list of ideas for paintings, creative stuff and photography in my head

~ I have a bad memory.....
